    Description

Two ounces of old blue glass Naga beads. These beads are a deep transparent cobalt blue glass with a worn and dusty surface. Naga is a term that describes a group of nearly 32-tribes from, "Nagaland", which was previously a part of the state of Mizoram until 1963. The Naga tribes consist of : Konyak, Ao, Angami, Sema and other tribes. They were known for their headhunting and fierceness. Nagaland is located between India, Myanmar, and China. Trade beads like these, which could be Venetian, made their way into Naga jewelry and were used to create beautiful, multi-strand necklaces.
I am not sure their age, but most likely the mid 20th Century or earlier. You'll receive two ounces of beads which is approximately 1100 or more in total. They are not all the same size, as shown in the photos. The openings are about 1.5mm. The beads are about 2 or 3mm wide by about 2 to 4 mm tall depending. These are similar in size to a 10/0 Preciosa or similar. You could use these for amazing bead embroidery, jewelry designs, or other creations.
The beads look very dark blue when not in the sunlight - shown in photos. The photo with the coin is of 2 ounces/56 grams.
    Authentic old Naga beads.
Different monitors and phone apps show colors differently. I do my best to accurately document color using both photos and written descriptions. If you have any questions, please send me a message.
